DEAR FRIENDS:
From
reading these words, you may think that I have fallen
prey to excitement, but in truth, they merely want to
narrate to you something that has been truly beautiful.
Eutherpe is a project dear to many, and every year it
multiplies itself a thousand times with your
participation. True love, always generous, makes the
most beautiful colors shine and turns shadows into wings
of hope. I can tell you that I have enjoyed enchanting
hands, open smiles, honest gazes, emotion-filled tears,
discreet attitudes, loyal hearts and kind gestures, all
of which add great happiness. It is wonderful to achieve
happiness by letting the joys of others grow free.
I would like to tell you a bit now about the 2010
project: All our concerts in have maintained a very high
level of quality and participation throughout the year
in both Leon and Valencia, as well as in the special
concert cycles arranged between the Foundation and
organizations like the Auditorio Ciudad de León: Jóvenes
Maestros Internacionales and the Obra Social y Cultural
de Caja España: Músicos del Mundo . We also held two
Festivals: Music in the Kingdom of León: Masters and
Disciples, sponsored by the Junta de Castilla y Leon and
the Fundacion Siglo, and another one dedicated to
chamber music sponsored by the Foundation Monteleon.
Also, this year we were happy to add an international
concert tour by the Moreno Gistain brothers. These
projects have come to exceed our expectations both in
terms of the level of our soloists, and in terms of our
audiences, both amazed and grateful.
In our yearly Master Classes, the number of applications
exceeded the number of spots available. Piano: Ana
Guijarro, great pedagogue and pianist, received in her
classes students seeking appropriate guidance and
development that will complement their studies in the
conservatory.
III International Meeting of Young Pianists Kingdom of
León: Joaquin Soriano, Jacques Rouvier and Sergio
Perticaroli, three teachers of teachers, and young
representatives of the best pianistic schools in the
world, all gathered together at the Parador Hostal de
San Marcos de León. Pianists arrived from various parts
of Europe, Asia and America, with high preparation. Our
perpetual collaborator, the Auditorio Ciudad de Leon,
hosted two groups of pianists who performed brilliant
closing concerts.
VII Course for young pianists, conductors, and youth
orchestras. Bruno Aprea, conductor and Joaquin Soriano,
pianist, were the exceptional directors of these Master
Classes. The members of Eutherpe, as well as the young
musicians who came to these courses also from all over
the world, were all fascinated by the personality of
these two great master teachers.

Everything they teach has a delicate sense, wise and
full of feelings, such as they are themselves. Students
came from all Spanish regions as well as several
European, American and Asian countries. In the Auditorio
Ciudad de León, the the buzz and expectation of the
city´s music life centered on the days 9 and 10 of
Septmeber, which put an end to the teachings and to the
intense days of great partnership between teachers,
students of conducting and piano, and with the very
young instrumentalists who formed the Youth Symphony
Orchestra of Galicia, which was the guest for the
occasion. You can see in the magazine images that show
all of what I´m telling you.
This is project prepared for the year 2011:

I wish to thank on behalf of the Foundation Eutherpe all
of the teachers, students, partners, collaborators,
friends and citizens who show a great appreciation for
our yearly project. It is easy to understand that
without the subsidies received from the institutions and
all other private support, we could not go ahead with
these projects. We continue to work with and for young
musicians. For this reason we ask and appreciate all the
help you can give us.
As I said at the outset, maybe my letter overflows with
enthusiasm and gratitude. But I'm sure that after this
tour of our yearly project that we've shared with you,
you will have understood me. Because this dream called
Eutherpe is growing every year thanks to you all.
